SlideRenu SlidePutty Polyester Water Slide Glazing Putty, Quart SR01105
SlidePuttyTM is a two-part creamy glazing and finishing putty developed for leveling and filling minor surface imperfections such as gouges, scratches, spider cracks and surface blemishes without the use of a mesh cloth. Will not shrink, fast drying and may be sanded/painted after only one hour. Ideally suited for skim coating up to 1/8” (3mm) in depth. Includes resin, hardener and plastic spreader.
CHEMICAL DESCRIPTION: SlidePutty ™ is a white creamy liquid with an aromatic odor (when resin and hardener are mixed) which contains styrene, titanium dioxide and other proprietary chemicals. Due to HAZARDOUS vapors emitted by SlidePutty™, the user should completely read the Safety Data Sheet prior to use to understand all warnings and safety precautions.
SURFACE PREPARATION: Clean surface, remove all dirt, oil, grease and wax. Use 80-180 grit sandpaper to scuff the substrate. Surface must be completely dry before application. Wipe surface with acetone solvent prior to application.
APPLICATION EQUIPMENT: There are no specialized application equipment required to apply SlidePutty™.
MIXING: The glazing putty resin in the can must be properly mixed with the creamy hardener in the tube.
APPLICATION STEPS:
1. Scrub surface with a hard bristle brush and SlideDetergent™. Rinse with water.
2. Sand the surface with 80-180 grit sandpaper. Rinse with water. Let dry completely.
3. Wipe the surface with acetone. Let dry completely.
4. Prior to combining the hardener and resin, thoroughly stir the resin and knead the tube of hardnener. Add hardener to resin and mix thoroughly until well combined.
5. Place desired amount of resin on a mixing board. Add a ribbon of cream hardener at a rate of 2% hardener to desired amount of resin. GUIDELINE: A 4” diameter puddle of SlidePutty™ resin would require a 2” ribbon of cream hardener, half the diameter. Using the plastic spreader, mix thoroughly until uniform color is achieved. Approximate set time is 4-5 MINUTES!
6. Spread a thin layer of mixed material over the surface using firm pressure to assure best adhesion. Where necessary, apply fiberglass mesh immediately over uncured mixed material to repair large holes, gashes and gouges over ½” in width. Fiberglass mesh should be cut ¼” wider than the actual repair area. Approximate set time is 4-5 MINUTES! Smooth out with the plastic spreader.
7. Apply additional layers after the previous layer has cured for 15 minutes building the repair area slightly higher than the surrounding surface to allow for sanding. Do not apply additional layers over uncured material. Never return mixed filler to can. Keep can closed and in a cool place when not in use.
8. After the final layer has cured for 60 minutes, sand with 80-180 grit sandpaper to desired contour. Use 320 grit sandpaper to feather edges and to smooth out the surface. Rinse with water and let dry.
9. Apply SlideRenu® ABC™ deep penetrating primer prior to top-coating with ColorShield™ UV4 PolySilox Gelcoat in accordance with product instructions.
10. SlideGloss™ finishing wax may be sprayed on/wiped off after the gelcoat has cured.
CLEAN-UP: Uncured resin or hardener may be removed from skin with soap and water.
